40% Aussies E-Shop MORE Than In-Store

Two in five Aussies saying they now do more shopping online than they do in bricks and mortar outlets.

That according to consumer survey by Canstar which shows the e-shopping revolution is firmly underway here in Oz.

But we’re still staying local, with more than 70% of those quizzed also opting for Aussie-owned websites rather than going international.

But that could also have something to do with the fact many sites do not ship to Oz rather than sheer patriotism.

Several US based websites which buy goods for Australians (in US dollar) and ship goods here have reported a massive spike in business.

And slow delivery was a deal-breaker with consumers with 50% saying they would refuse to ‘repeat-purchase’ from a website after experiencing unreasonable delivery times.

Gen Y shoppers were even less inclined to forgive slow delivery, with 2 out of 3 refusing to repeat-purchase due to slow delivery.

With increasing competition in online retailers, customer satisfaction can be a differentiator for retailers, warns Canstar.

 

DealsDirect.com.au, was rated highest for satisfied customers award for a department stores.Kmart, Target, Big W Online, oo.com.au and Myer were also rated among consumers for their online stores.

Aussie retailers including Harvey Norman, Myer and Dick Smith have come under severe pressure of late as online rivals both in Oz and the likes of Amazon and eBay increasingly gain marketshare, with several recent casualties including Wow Audio Visual stores, and gaming retailer Game.
