The Full Bench of the Federal Court in Sydney this afternoon will hand down its anxiously-awaited ruling on an appeal by major movie studios in their online copyright case against ISP iiNet.
The decision is due to be delivered at 2.15pm .
The Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft (AFACT) had appealed a Federal Court judgment by Justice Cowdroy which found iiNet did not authorise copyright infringement activities by users of its network who share pirated copies of movies.
The stakes are huge and whichever party wins today’s decision, a further appeal to the High Court is likely.
