LG Optimus 2X Harnesses Dual-core Power

As tipped yesterday by SmartHouse, LG has unveiled its latest high-performance smartphone today, the LG Optimus 2X, featuring the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor.

The Tegra 2, which is slated for a wide release on Samsung tablets in the near future, makes the Optimus 2X the fastest smartphone to soon be appearing on the market.

The Optimus 2X runs at a clock speed of 1GHz while maintaining low power consumption, giving it an edge for HD video playback while making seamless work out of multitasking applications, games and web browsing.

The phone features HDMI mirroring for TV connectivity, an accelerometer and gyro sensor, rear and frontal cameras, microSD slot and Micro-USB port alongside its 1080p HD video playback.

More specifically, the frontal camera is 1.3 megapixels with an 8 megapixel rear camera, while the video playing software can run and record in MPEG-4 and H.264 on its 4 inch screen.

The phone will be initially released in Korea next month, running on Android 2.2 but will be upgradable to 2.3 (Gingerbread, as seen in the Nexus S), moving into Europe and Asia soon after. We won’t find the Optimus 2X on Australian shelves for some time still.
