Apple Google & LG Face Multi Million Dollar Smartphone Payouts

Fresh from a 2006 $700M win against the maker of the Blackberry, NTP is now going after Apple, Nokia, Google and three other Smartphone companies for breach of patents.
NTP claims that companies like HTC, Motorola and LG Electronics have infringed on the companies wireless email technology patents and they want to be rewarded.

The same patents were those at heart of the case against Research In Motion (RIM) who make the Blackberry phone.
At this stage none of the Smartphone Companies are commenting about the claim which has been lodged in a US court.
Shortly after the win against RIM, NTP’s patents were re-examined by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
Don Stout President of NTP said “We hope we can resolve these cases without having to go to trial.”
