New 3D Sanyo Projectors Deliver Big Screen Experience

Sanyo who is now working closely with Panasonic Australia in the Pro AV and education markets, has introduced two ultra short-focus projectors with 3D capability. Ideal for the booming education market the new models uncorporate a smaller DLP engine and reduced optics system.

Designed to achieve a compact chassis of about half the size of conventional short-focus projectors the new models which include the  PDG-DWL2500 which has WXGA resolution (1,280-by-800; 16:10 aspect ratio) with 2,500 lumens of brightness and the PDG-DXL2000 which  has XGA resolution (1024-by-768; 4:3 aspect ratio), and produces 2,000 lumens are expected to go on sale in the second half of 2010.
Sanyo said it achieved a short throw distance using a newly developed ultra short-focus mirror optics system. According to
The PDG-DWL2500 creates an 80-inch image at a position only 32 centimetres from the screen, making it the shortest-throw unit on the market today. The PDG-DXL2000 requires only 38 centimetres for an 203 centimetre image. Both projectors offer a maximum image size of either 2.7 metres (DWL2500) or 2.4 metres (DXL2000).
For 3D presentation, both units use the Frame Sequential Display Format to display 3D, which works in conjunction with Active Shutter 3D glasses to rapidly alternate the display between the right and left eyes.
The 3D capability opens a new range of possibilities for applications in the education, digital signage and amusement markets. Venues where short-throw projection is the preferred or only option can now make presentations in 3D, including new possibilities such as 3D arcade gaming and rear projection museum exhibits.
They can be used in either a horizontal or vertical orientation, allowing placement under a table, on a table top behind a screen, or on a floor, ceiling or wall, Sanyo said.
