Victorian police have told ChannelNews that they have finally charged the former payroll manager of retailer Clive Peeters with more than 70 counts of stealing totaling, $18.7 million.Causer, who confessed to Clive Peeters Management earlier this year, is facing a long jail sentence if found guilty. She is due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday and is currently free on bail.
Causer, who admitted that she stole money from the retailer, purchased houses, cars and shares in Clive Peeters with the money.
Causer had put nearly all of the stolen money into a string of properties concentrated in Melbourne’s outer east as well as houses in Brisbane, Tasmania and rural Victoria.
Clive Peeters is currently selling these properties after Causer agreed to hand over the properties.
Police have taken over six months to collate the charges against Causer, who could plead guilty to several of the charges.
