Pirates Download More Superhero Videos

Watchmen and Heroes were the most illegally downloaded movie and TV show over the last six months, according to media measurement company Big Champagne.

As reported by Forbes.com, Watchmen was downloaded nearly 17 million times while Heroes episodes were downloaded a total of 54.5 million times. Last year’s The Dark Knight was illegally downloaded over 7 million times.

Looking at TorrentFreak’s ‘Top 10 Pirated Movies’ for the week ending August 2, 2009, the SmartHouse team has found that Watchmen was the 4th most illegally downloaded file from BitTorrent. Despite being a couple of months old, it was still able to beat recently released movies such as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Terminator Salvation, and Transformers 2.

Despite the huge number of illegal files, media and technology researchers at Music Ally has found that illegal file-sharing in the UK has fallen dramatically. According to the study, the numbers of those who regularly file-shared had dropped by 25 percent between December 2007 and January 2009.
