New Sharp LCD Follows Energy Rating Standard

Sharp has attached an energy label to one of its 37-inch television (LC-37D85X) in an effort to give consumers the information they need to choose the most energy-efficient LCD or Plasma television.

In association with the Hon Peter Garrett MP, Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts and Regulators, Sharp has worked closely to develop an accurate and effective standard for measurement and labelling in the industry.

Deputy Managing Director, Denis Kerr said, “Sharp is a global supporter of Energy Efficiency measures and is proud to be the first company in Australia to include labelling on LCDs, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to the environment. With the impending switch-off of analogue broadcasting by 2013, more digital flat screen TVs are being bought for home use. Consumers are invariably making the decision to buy larger TVs than those being replaced, resulting in a significant growth in national power consumption.”

“Sharp believes it is critical that we assist consumers to identify and invest in the latest cost-saving energy-efficient technologies,” added Denis.

Mandatory labelling of all televisions will commence on April 1, 2009.

RRP: $2,099
