Sony Reveals Smorgasbord Of World First Products

Sony Australia has revealed a powerful new range of world first products that include a 360 degree glass speaker, a 9.6cm HD TV, new speakers and home theatre kits that connect over a wireless network and with mobile devices and the world’s smallest notebook with a Blu ray drive.

The Managing Director of Sony Australia Carl Rose has described the new Sony offerings as a visionary range of products that will be in stores by Xmas.

He said “Our vision is to be the leading global provider of networked consumer electronics and entertainment. We’re bringing design, innovation and engineering together to create the kind of memorable experience that Australians have come to expect from Sony,” he said.

He also said that the new Sony range will strengthen Sony’s position in the Australian market with the Company set to compete more with Samsung than LG who according to Sony executives “appear to be struggling” in the market.

Rose said that going forward there will be two types of buyers, “the brand buyer who will pay a premium for a quality brand like Sony” and those looking for value for money discount deals.

Sony he says will “do well” in the premium end of the market along with Samsung. He also admitted that Toshiba were more likely to pick up market share following the exit of Philips from the Australian market.

At today’s launch he said “We are exceptionally proud to be bringing to Australia some ‘world first’s’ from Sony, including the world’s smallest and lightest Blu-ray enabled notebook from VAIO and the extraordinarily slim BRAVIA ZX1 Full HD LCD TV. At 9.9mm, the approximate width of a CD case, this is the world’s thinnest LCD TV,” Rose said.

Sony also previewed the world’s first digital noise-cancelling headphones, which reduce up to 99.1 percent of ambient noise thanks to the use of digital technology with Artificial Intelligence.

More to follow.
