Sony Unveils Walkman Without Wires

Sony Australia has added two new models to its Walkman range. The Walkman NWZ-A720 will be available in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB versions, while the limited edition NWZ-A826KB will only have 4GB capacity but will incorporate Bluetooth wireless technology.

The new models will sport a 2.4-inch LCD screen and can be changed to either horizontal or vertical screen orientation. The new NWZ-A720 range are available in black, white, pink and gold with a chic metallic casing and feature up to 10 hours of video playback or 36 hours of uninterrupted music playback.

The limited edition NWZ-A826KB MP3 player eliminates the inconvenience of wires so you can stream stereo music from the Walkman to many other Bluetooth-enabled audio devices such as in-car audio and hi-fi systems. DR-BT21G Street-Style Bluetooth wireless headphones are supplied with the NWZ-A826KB for tangle-free music enjoyment on the go, and can also be used with other Bluetooth compatible devices.

Sony Australia’s Personal Audio Product Manager, Suzanna Gan said, “Sony’s new line-up of Walkman MP3 players offer customers the very finest in sound quality technology combined with a stylish design that defines portability. It is now possible to choose a Walkman MP3 player that best suits your lifestyle, be it an enhanced video viewing experience on a large LCD screen, or wireless usability.”

The new Walkman MP3 players support the open audio formats of MP3, non-secure AAC, WMA (including security enhanced WMA), linear PCM and JPEG files for photos. High quality video support allows playback of AVC (H.264/AVC), Baseline Profile and MPEG-4 video files. Videos, music and other files are also easily transferred between the player and a connected computer via a simple drag-and-drop operation or by using Windows Media Player 11 which comes supplied.

The Walkman NWZ-A720 series will have an RRP of $199, $269, $389 for the 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB respectively, while the limited edition NWZ-A826KB model will have an RRP of $289.
