Toshiba Teams Up With Onkyo For New 1080p TV

Toshiba has teamed up with Onkyo to deliver a new Regza TV line up. The new Tosh range which was shown at the IFA trade show in Berlin has full 1080p HD display as a standard across the entire range. It is expected that the range will be launched in Australia early in 2008.

Each panel will also have Toshiba’s Active Vision M100HD 100Hz Picture processing. This claims to improve image clarity by inserting an intermediate image between frames and doubling the overall image refresh rate, even for PAL broadcasts. Audio is provided via an Onkyo Speaker System, which delivers enhanced audio projection. Every model has an integrated digital tuner as standard.

Toshiba claim that 10-Bit colour processing and Dynamic Gamma Curve Correction technology should improve tones while a wide colour gamut means colour palette display capabilities up to 98 percent of required colours, compared to the 85 percent reproduction ratio of a standard LCD TV.

Dynamic Contrast Ratios ranging from 6,500:1 to 15,000:1 depending on the model, help to deliver the deeper blacks and the brighter whites by actively controlling the LCD backlight.

The Z series can display at 24 frames per second which is the rate at which movies are filmed, meaning you get closer to seeing a film in the way in which it was shot.

The connectivity of the Z series includes 3 HDMI inputs, Component Video, S Video and SCART. The HDMI inputs are compatible with Toshiba’s Regza Link (CEC) technology which offers one-remote interactivity with all other Regza Link devices.

The Z series will come in five sizes, from 37, 42, 47 and 52 through to the company’s largest to date 57-inches, all will have a gloss black exterior. Pricing to be confirmed.
