A version of the Cranium family boardgame launched in 1998 will be made for the Nintendo Wii, called Cranium Kabookkii, as a joint-project by video game publisher Ubisoft and Cranium Inc.
The game will launch worldwide in December this year and is expected to be one of the richest Wii gaming experiences so far, according to the developers.
Cranium Kabookii uses the Wii Remote and specially-made Kabookkii Decoder Glasses to create a “living canvas” out of the television screen on which teams jam, draw, act, puzzle and crack codes to win.
There’s a spray paint application which creates the noise of a spray can shaking in the users’ hand, while the Wii Remote can be used as a mallet to hammer on songs on an xylophone.
The Kabookkii Decoder glasses allow players to view hidden information on the television screen.
“Cranium has set itself apart by creating award-winning games that celebrate natural talents in a way that connects people through laughter and play,” said Ubisoft chief executive officer, Yves Guillemot.
“This kind of experience is exactly what we want to provide with our Games for Everyone line, and we are pleased to partner with Cranium, Inc., who for nearly a decade, have proven themselves the experts in creating unique enduring experiences for friends and family.”
