New iPod Viewing Dock

Struggling to overcome a 43% decline in profits Altec Lansing has announced an iPod Viewing Dock which includes a small TV screen.

Altec Lansing has revealed a new  viewing dock at the CeBit tech show in Sydney. The device which will sell for around $860 allows users to connect to an ipod Video, however it does not have a TV tuner which would allow TV to be pumped to the device nor does it have a radio receiver for AM or FM.

The company claims that the inMotion iMV712 is designed to be used in environments such as college dorm rooms, teen rooms and on desktops.

It sports a 21.5 centimetre LCD screen for viewing iPod video and is surrounded by custom engineered speakers. These speakers include a built-in four-inch subwoofer and two three-inch speaker drivers. These speakers are supported by immersive sound technology to boost the sound field for a reportedly better listening experience.

Other features of this new iPod speaker system include an iPod docking station which supports iPod models with a 30-pin connector, auxiliary input for listening to other audio sources, video input for allowing video playback from other devices and a wireless remote which offers control of the iMV712 as well as a connected iPod.

“As the popularity of Internet-based video and digital music skyrockets, consumers want new iPod accessory products that amplify the entire entertainment experience,” said Robert Heiblim, Altec Lansing’s senior vice president of Sales and Marketing, in a statement. “The iMV712 redefines the concept of an iPod speaker system, delivering consumers a stylish, compact one-two punch of high-fidelity stereo sound plus video display.”
