Nokia has added to its entry- and mid-range mobile phone portfolio – proving the monochrome screened handset with phone-only functions is not extinct – yet!
Remember back to the old days when we had separate devices to take calls on the road, take photos or use the net? And now we just have one mobile phone to do it all. But it’s good to remind ourselves once in a while that all these functions aren’t essential for everyone.
And with that in mind, Nokia has introduced the entry-level 1110i which the company says offers useful features for messaging and time management such as a speaking clock and alarm as well as “MP3-grade” ring tones for distinctive sounds and alerts.
For the mid-range market, there is the new CDMA model 2875i, which includes a 1.3 megapixel camera, video ring tones, video streaming and an FM radio. It also features Bluetooth 2.0 wireless technology and a 128 x 160 pixel 262,144 colour screen. It weighs in at 94g.
A bit higher up in the CDMA models is the 6275i with a 2 megapixel camera with flash and video capture, Bluetooth, a built-in digital music player (which supports MP3, AAC and eAAC+) and support for up to a 2 GB microSD memory card. It also features an integrated FM radio and support for streaming audio and video content. It weighs in at 105 g.
Pricing is yet to be announced on the 2875 and 6275, but the 1110i model RRP is $89.
