Apple has slashed the Australian retail price of its professional compositing software Shake by over $3000 as it releases the first universal version (4.1).
The software, which is used for 3D compositing, keying, image tracking and stabilisation by many major movie studios and special effects houses, will now sell for $769 rather than its original price of $4199.
“Shake is now priced as low as a plug-in for Final Cut Studio,” Apple’s vice president of Applications Product Marketing, Rob Schoeben, said of the dramatic price drop in a statement.
“Final Cut Studio customers can retouch their shots with Shake’s optical flow technology or add photo realistic visual effects to their productions.”
The price drop comes amid rumours in the Mac community that this may be the last release of the Shake software as it stands. Apple is yet to confirm or deny these rumours.
