Siri has left Apple with egg on its face following its answer to the question: what is the best cell phone ever?
You’d expect Siri, endemic to Apple’s iPhone 4S, to seize the opportunity and boast its own. Instead it embarrassingly replies Nokia’s Lumia 900 is the best smartphone ever.
Come again?
Apple’s marketing of its Siri software positions the artificial intelligence system as a gateway to the internet’s information, refined with the intuition to discern relevant information from the remaining landfill.
As much as we’d like to indulge in the notion that Apple’s phone is inferior to Nokia’s Lumia, the result actually highlights Siri’s limitations. In trying to deduce the best smartphone ever, Siri turns to aggregate review scores. Of which, there are five, 5 star reviews of Nokia’s Lumia 900, giving it an average of score of 100%. PCWorld state the source of the information comes from Wolfram Alpha, who gleans BestBuy reviews.
The Lumia 900 isn’t available in Australia yet, but it should be launching soon seeing as a launch event is being held this Thursday (17th of May, 2012). Check back thereabouts for our review, and in the meantime feel free to see our thoughts of Nokia’s Lumia 800.
