Panasonic Announce New Tough Tablet LED TVs & New MySpace

Panasonic is set to launch a tough tablet, new LED TVs and a waterproof camcorder. They also set to deliver the opening and closing ceremonies of the London Olympics in 3D.Instead of talking about their Plasma strength Panasonic executives chose to launch a new line-up of LED TVs.

Among the range are larger IPS LED TVs which delivers a 25 percent reduction in power consumption across the entire line up. Most impressive are the 47 and 55-inch DT50 and WT50. Differentiated by design, they’re both IPS LED panels with Viera Connect and can convert 2D content into 3D.

Both TVs have four HDMI ports and three USB ports. They’re differentiated primarily by design, with the WT50 sporting a super-narrow metal frame and crescent stand. PR detailing all awaits you after the break.

At their CES event Panasonic announced that they are set to resurrect the struggling MySpace which was once, the biggest social network, ahead of Facebook and Twitter. MySpace is being reinvented as a social television viewing platform.

MySpace is starting by dropping the second capital (and underlining the “space” part of its logo), rebranding MySpace from a social network web site to a way to watch TV with friends. The new service is called Myspace TV, and it will work with Panasonic HDTVs as part of Viera Connect.

MySpace CEO Tim Vanderhook and co-owner Justin Timberlake (yes, the singer/actor) showed up at the Panasonic press conference to announce MySpace TV. The two purchased MySpace from NewsCorp earlier this year, in what is being described as one of the stranger sales/merger stories of the year.

Panasonic is also set to launch the ToughPad FZ-A1 later this year with the Company targeting commercial enterprises such as mining, transport and service organisations in Australia.

The new device will have a high-resistance, splash proof, scratchproof and dust-resistant design in line with several military standards. The device can be dropped from heights of 120 cm and has a rubber surround for extra protection.

It has a 1.2 GHz processor by Marvell and 1 GB of RAM.

The company also announced a partnership today with NBC to broadcast the 2012 London Olympics in 3D.

They have also launched three new Full-HD camcorders.

Presenting three new HD camcorders Panasonic executives claimed that new range offers higher resolution image sensors and better low-light performance than previous models.

Among the range which will be launched in Australia later this year is the HX-WA20, a successor to the award-winning HX-WA10,

The new device has an image-enhancing engine that lets users capture HD images in dimly lit conditions.

Waterproof up to a depth of three meters, the Panasonic HX-WA20 allows users to snap images underwater for up to 60 minutes. The camera is also built with a dustproof design, making the WA20 ideal for a variety of outdoor conditions, without the worry of sand, dirt or anything else finding its way into the interior.

Slow Motion Mode lets users capture those sporting moments, recording images at 240 fps with a 640 x 360p resolution for 15 seconds or at 480 fps with a lower 320 x 180p res for 15 seconds, with a playback of slow-motion images at 60 fps.
