Acer’s latest Iconia tablet has just hit the market with average tablet specs but at a below-average price.

The 10.1 inch multi-touch device runs on Android Honeycomb with a 1GHz processor and 1GB RAM, tipped at a $349 RRP and selling exclusively out of Harvey Norman.
The new Iconia is very practically modelled, with a full sized USB port for connecting other devices as well as a MicroSD slot for data transfers.

It features Acer’s ‘Ring’ home page interface for quickly launching users’ favourite apps as well as push mail and the typical suite of Google Android synchronising tools.
The A200 measures up to 260 x 175 x 12.4 mm, thicker than some higher end models (but with a full-sized USB port, that is expected).
The budget tablet currently ships with Android Honeycomb installed, though Acer has confirmed that the Ice Cream Sandwich version will be available in January, with early buyers also getting the chance to upgrade their software.
The new tablet launches alongside Acer’s Iconia Tab Starter Pack for Android which will be distributed for free to consumers across Australian retailers.

The starter pack is part of a bid to grab first-time Android users into the tablet market by teaching them how to navigate the operating system.
“Our Iconia Tab Starter Pack for Android is our way to enable customers to realise the potential faster and to remove the uncertainty from the Android operating system. The primary benefit offered is its freedom, it’s up to you how you use it,” said Acer product director, Nigel Gore.
The pack includes online tutorials and daily help lines for Android tech support. Acer is also launching live online training sessions in late January 2012 which will run for 30 minute intervals, teaching advanced users how to get the most out of their tablets.
