Retailers Hold The Key To New LG Laser TV, Tablets + Computers

Australian retailers hold the unlock key to several new LG products revealed at CES today. Among them is a Laser TV projector, new PC products and new OLED TVs which will sell for around $12,000 for a 55″ model. The Marketing General Manager at LG Electronics Australia, Lambro Skropidis, has confirmed that a new 55 Ultra High Definition TV and a 55″ OLED TV will go on sale in Australia shortly with March or early April tipped as the key period for the launch of several new LG TVs, including a line-up of new LED TVs that will all have LG’s recently upgraded Smart TV technology.

At the first official press conference at the 2013 CES show, LG showed their new OLED TVs, along with new smartphones. According to several members of US media, the event was “low key” due to the fact that most of the key announcements had been made prior to the official press conference.

According to Skropidis LG is keen to enter several new markets in Australia. “We have a lot of new products with both projectors and PC products. We are in the hands of retailers. Several of them are at this year’s CES Show and if they like the products and want to range them we will sell them in Australia,”he said.

He added “The PC market is tough and commoditised, and while we have some stunning new products including Ultrabooks and tablets, the decision is with the retailer. We believe that because LG is able to deliver connectivity across our devices, it is logical that retailers offer consumers a PC range that connects with their LG devices including appliances and their entertainment products”.

LG has also announced a new range of smart appliances that communicate with Android devices and a new range of LG smartphones.
