Samsung is looking to take on Sony and LG by showcasing a 110 inch Ultra High Definition television at the 2013 CES show, if reports are to be believed.
Although LG and Sony have released Ultra High Definition (UHD) televisions, so far Samsung has refrained from supporting the standard. Their UHD TVs cost $17,999 and $24,999 respectively.
Reports of the 110 inch television originate from Korean tech site MK News, who cited an unnamed spokesperson saying:
“At the next year’s CES to be open on January 8 in Las Vegas, the US, Samsung will have its 110-inch UHD TV on display.
“Not to mention ultra-sized screen, our UHD TV will boast the best-ever definition and design that you haven’t experienced before.” (Translated)
The Samsung 110 inch UHD television could end up being a myth, but there is one brand who has committed to unveiling such a TV. Surprisingly, that brand is Westinghouse.

Ultra High Definition TVs support a resolution four times clearer than Full HD. Unfortunately the new format is crippled by a lack of content and delivery infrastructure. Current UHD movies range from 400GB to 600GB in size, come on a hard-drive and cost between $99 and $299 each.
The unnamed spokesperson also claims Samsung will be showcasing multiple OLED televisions.
