As Windows 8 Hits…HTC’s Surprise Lift

HTC revenue rises 23% in November as it opens Windows 8 Phones to the world.

The phone maker, who is the No. 2 Android phone in OZ, said unaudited revenue for November was NT$21.2bn – a 23% jump on October’s figure.

However, it marked a -31% slump compared to same time 2011.

The good news comes as HTC launched its Windows 8 smartphones in Oz last week, the HTC 8S and 8X, with either model being sold by Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.

The Taiwanese company has suffered a serious slump as of late on the back of major competition from phone leaders Samsung and Apple, however, its new devices, the One XL and One X, have proven popular.

HTC’s latest financial performance is a marked improvement on October financials which saw a -18.5% revenue slump and 61% drop year-on year.

It also said total consolidated revenue from January – November 2012 was NT$267.5bn.
