The Good Guys Up The Ante Online

Consumers are “hyper connected” to mobiles, PCs and tablets.
The Good Guys go digital mad as they release a slew of new e-comm tools to reach out to “hyper connected” Aussie consumers. They have teamed up with PayPal to develop its time-saving online tools for Christmas including QR code scanning and eGift cards sent directly to the recipient.

The Good Guys are letting consumers scan QR codes in stores to receive discounts, and to purchase directly from Print and Digital Catalogues.

“Digital is an incredible tool for customers when shopping,” said Michael Ford, CEO of The Good Guys.

“This Christmas, we have worked to harness the tools available and apply them in a way that will see customers have a better shopping experience – where ‘in store’ and ‘online’ are interconnected.”

“Customers can now buy directly from our print and digital catalogues, purchase last minute eGift cards emailed directly to the recipient, and scan for discounts in store on the products they want.”

Elena Wise, Director of Merchant Services, PayPal Australia,  worked closely with The Good Guys to integrate tailored purchasing tools across all digital shopping platforms, noting the rise of “hyper connected consumer.”

The number of retail purchases by consumers on mobile devices is set to reach $5.6 billion in 2012, up from just $155 m in 2010.

New research from Roy Morgan now shows two thirds (63%) of Australians who have purchased online in the last three months prefer to buy from retailers they know.

One in five buy from Aussie e-stores only, meaning the online market is ripe for local retailers.

Internet access via mobile phones has exploded this year, up 152% to Aug 2012, opening up the potential of mobile shopping to the masses.

“The future of shopping is about blending the best of offline and online commerce to create unique experiences and value for customers,” says Wise.
