Justin Bieber and security make an unusual fusion in the latest survey by Norton-developer, Symantec.The survey found that 37 percent of Australians surveyed would prefer to be punched in the face by Justin Bieber than lose their mobile.
Apart from the fluff, the survey also found that 42 percent of Australian respondents have either lost their phones or had them stolen. Half of the victims considered losing their contacts, and privacy in tow, to be the worst part of the loss.
Less than half of Aussies use a password-protected phone, though 70 percent noted that they would be more likely to buy a phone if it had security options like remote locking and data erasing.
For those who still have their phones, Symantec has warned Android users of the growing danger of wanton app downloading on the platform.
The company says that most people download apps with a trust in the Google brand that does not necessarily extend to the apps.
Google was forced to pull 58 malicious apps from its Android Market this month that affected approximately 260,000 Android devices.
This is a growing concern as the platform is predicted by market analysts to largely exceed Apple market share in the coming months.
