Oz To Get Folio Ahead Of The US

Australia is set to be one of the few countries to get the Toshiba Folio tablet this year following the company’s announcement that it will hold the product launch back in the US, Japan and other countries until early 2011.In an article posted by the Wall Street Journal, Toshiba Engineer Hideo Kasuya said various tablets will be hitting the US and Japan in the first part of 2011. The company also said that it is preparing to release different tablets worldwide although it may have different specifications and features to the Folio 100.

The Folio 100 was first unveiled at the IFA show in Europe last month, with Toshiba saying that it will be launched in Europe, the Middle East and Africa by the end of this year. The 10″ Folio range has a 7 hour battery life, incorporates the Nvidia Tegra 2 platform which allows 1080p content to be played, and comes with a HDMI slot which allows users to play movies on a TV.

Also installed on the device will be Opera Mobile browser, Documents to Go, Evernote, Fring, Adobe Flash 10.1, Toshiba Media player, and the FBRader app.

Rob Wilkinson, General Manager of the Information Systems Division at Toshiba Australia told SmartHouse a couple of weeks ago (see original story here) that they are expecting the Folio range to be on sale within 8 to 10 weeks.
