International iPad Launch May Be Put Back One Week

The production of touch screens for the new iPad is causing problems for Apple with speculation mounting that Apple may delay the International launch by one week.

The production of touch screens for the new iPad is causing problems for Apple with speculation mounting that Apple may delay the International launch by one week.
ChannelNews has been told that Apple has mounting production issues and that coupled with software changes the Company is now trying to implement with future production models of the iPad that they may consider “slipping” the launch by one week.

“We understand that the yields on the display have been low and that they’re creating a production bottleneck. That they have been doing it for the iPhone for some time is great, but once you go to 9.7 inches, it is a much more complicated process,” said Andrew Rassweiler, an analyst at ISuppli Corp. research firm told Money Times this week.

Analysts believes that since iPad is “based on number of high-end components like Apple’s A4 processor and 9.7-inch LCD screen” manufactures might be having difficulty producing large number of devices in time to fulfil the demand.

However, Apple declined to answer any questions related to iPad’s production issues.

Its spokeswoman Natalie Kerris said that “demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks.”

Apple recently announced on its official website that its 3G iPad model, scheduled to arrive sometime in late April, will now enter the U.S. market on May 7.
