Navteq has today announced its new speed limit information for its Australian maps.
According to the company, the speed limit content is time and date dependent, meaning school zone speed limits will be in effect during school arrival and dismissal times.
Navteq customers can also use this content to enhance the functionality of navigation system route selection and estimated arrival times. When identifying their destination, the user has several alternatives for choosing their route including, most use of highways, shortest distance and fastest time.
Driver alert applications, warning users against violation of traffic restrictions, can also be provided to the end-user when customers incorporate speed limit content.
Provided as part of the Navteq map for Australia, coverage includes the arterial road network in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra.
Navteq’s Vice President of Asia Pacific Map and Content Products, Aaron Dannenbring said, “Adoption of navigation systems in Australia continues to grow, providing opportunity for an explosion of map-enabled solutions. High quality map and content that can enable the enhanced device functionality is critical in supporting our customer efforts to develop innovative and relevant solutions.”
