Like previous models from HP and Asus, the Studio One 19 apes Apple’s iMac design in which everything except the keyboard and mouse is hidden within the LCD display enclosure. It will have an aluminum casing which Dell says “looks just as good in the living room as the kitchen”. Some models will offer optional touchscreen capabilities a trend HP introduced with its TouchSmart models.
With its 18.5-inch screen the Dell machine is considerably smaller than the iMac (20 or 24 inches) or HP TouchSmart’s 22-inch display. But it’s bigger than the EeeTop’s 15.6-in.
The Studio One 19 will come with a choice of Celeron, Pentium, Core 2 Dup or Core 2 Quad processors, Nvidia or GeForce integrated graphics, six USB ports (but no Firewire or eSATA), a Webcam and optional Blu-ray disk drive.
Buyers also get to pick the colour: there’s to be Solid Pure White, Tuscan Red, Navy Blue, Powder Pink and Charcoal.
Australian pricing has not been stated, but in the US the Studio One 19 starts at US$699 (about A$1060). Delivery is scheduled for mid-May.
