Navman has announced a $100 price cut on each of its S-Series portable GPS devices, in response to the competitive market.
“The market has been under pressure and Navman have reacted to that pressure. The great thing is the customer is one who ultimately benefits with great products at fantastic prices. For some consumers, price has been a barrier to buy a GPS but now they can enter the category for as little as $299 for a Navman S30” said Navman Marketing Director Wendy Hammond.
“And, for consumers who entered the market in its early days, upgrading to a new featured packed device just became more affordable.”
Despite market pressure, Navman says the S-Series sold over 300,000 units since launch in October last year, and that the GPS category continues grow over 100 percent year on year.
The company says the category is expected to deliver to market in excess of 1.2 million units this 2008 calendar year, in comparison to just over 700,000 units sold in 2007, so it is ready for a competitive year ahead.
