Sony eyes Apple’s customers by releasing its new Xperia Transfer software.
It’s not necessarily the next iPhone that keeps Apple users loyal to the brand. More often than not, it’s the chore of transferring their data-contacts, calendar entries, emails, messages, photos, videos, music and more-that decides their next phone will be whatever Apple churns out. In many ways, the Apple ecosystem is as controlled as a prison. Or a totalitarian state.
In the past no one really cared because Apple was at the cutting edge in smartphone innovation, but the company’s stale screen is seeing some iPhone users defect, even if they have to struggle porting their data from Apple’s ecosystem to Google’s, Windows’ or Blackberry’s.
Android vendor Sony wants to break Apple’s hold by making it easier to migrate existing iPhone data to one of its Xperia smartphones. They’ve released their new Xperia Transfer software specifically with iPhone customers in mind as it will migrate most their data to a new Xperia smartphone, including contacts, messages, calendar entries, bookmarks, notes, iTunes music, your camera album and videos.

The software has been updated just in time for the release of Sony’s Xperia Z smartphone, the company’s new 5 inch, Full HD flagship. Compared to the current iPhone, it features a superior screen, a 13MP camera, NFC connectivity, is waterproof to 1 metre and is PlayStation certified.
