Aggressive LG Sell 10M 4G Phones

Oh G: LG sells 10 million 4G smarties …and hopes to flog a hell of a lot more.

LG says it has sold more than 10 million 4G LTE smartphones worldwide, to date.

The milestone is on the back of LG’s “aggressive” push into 4G markets and “advanced 4G LTE technologies,”  the company, an early entrant into the 4G mobile market, claims.

LG’s Optimus G, a 4G-ready phone billed a ‘superphone’, is to be sold here from next month on Telstra on a $60 postpaid plan – the brand’s first major 4G mobile in the Aussie market.

“Aggressive pushing forward with 4G LTE technology allows LG satisfy the needs of consumers and is a huge factor in our growing success in global LTE smartphone sales,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, CEO of the LG Mobile.

“Having established ourselves as a major industry player, we will continue to expand our footprint in the global LTE market with a wider range of differentiated, high quality LTE smartphones.”

Last year, LG launched several 4G LTE smartphones in “significant” markets including United States, Japan and Germany.

Strategic Analytics predict the popularity of 4G to skyrocket with shipments of LTE capable smartphones to increase to 275 million globally, this year.

LG hopes to piggyback on this surge in 4G devices and says it is aiming to double its LTE smartphone penetration this year, “with a variety of devices” in established and emerging markets.

LG says its newly announced Optimus F series will “deliver a high-speed experience to users transitioning from 3G to 4G LTE networks in countries around the world. “
