After Jobs comes…the orders. iPhone 4S pre-orders have hit stratospheric heights after Steve Jobs untimely death last week.

The underwhelming iPhone 4S launched by Apple last week, eluded a new iPhone 5 model, emerging with a slightly updated ‘S’, has nonetheless seen orders soar to 200,000 in just 12 hours, US telco AT&T said.
Pre-orders began on Friday last.
This marks the biggest pre-order ever for an Apple product, surpassing iPad, Macbook or even iPhone 4, and marks simply “extraordinary demand,” says the telco.
The launch came just a day before the untimely death of Apple co-founder and father of iPhone, iPod and iPad, Steve Jobs.
Telecommunications Analyst Foad Fadaghi believes the demand is in part to loyal Apple customers looking to upgrade their old iPhones for new ones.
“We believe iPhone 4S sales will be strong in Australia as there is significant pent up demand from the base of iPhone 3G and 3GS users, many coming out of contract before the holiday season.”
“While the 4S might not win over non-Apple users that are waiting for unique features or design, demand from existing users is enough to make it a top selling smartphone in 2011.
Telstra, who have yet to announce pricing for 4S, are also experiencing “unprecedented interest” in the new smartphone, a spokeperson confirmed.
iPhone 4S will run iOS 5, have an 8MP HD video-capable camera, a powerful dual-core A5 processor, an improved antenna and Siri personal assistant.
Telstra has yet to announce pricing but on Optus, iPhone 4S is free on a $79 cap plan (over 24 months) and also on $49, $59, $79 and $99 cap.
Vodafone will offer the 16GB iPhone 4S from $29 with a $15 instalment for the phone extra per month – $5 cheaper Optus.
