Latest figures show fortunes at the Taiwanese giant soared phenomenally with 79% lift in revenues to NT$135,821m (or US$4,431m), while net profit jumped 68% to $615.3m, compared to a year ago.
This dream-like growth comes as HTC released a slew of hit Android affordable smartphones this year including the Sensation, Desire S and ChaCha.
Not bad for a company set up in just 1997, who was a brand virtually unheard of in Australia two years ago and now sold by the big 3: Optus, Telstra and Vodafone.
The giant debuted 4.7″ HTC Sensation XL ‘superphone’ last night in London’s Rounhouse venue in a bid to gatecrash Tuesday’s iPhone 4S launch.
However, this thunder stealing strategy failed somewhat after the shock death of the father of iPhone, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, which dominated tech headlines yesterday and today.
The update to Sensation XL is a potent handset boasting 480 x 800 pixel Gorilla Glass touchscreen, a 1.5 GHz single-core processor, 768MB of RAM and 16GB flash memory.
Other specs include 8 megapixel camera with 28mm lens and dual LED flash, with 720p HD video recording, Beats Audio for top end sound, all running on Android Gingerbread 2.3 OS.
