Samsung To Challenge Microsoft Surface Pro With New $1,249 Tablet

As we tipped last week though we were a couple of days out Samsung has jumped into the top end of the tablet market with two new models: the 12.2-inch Galaxy NotePro and the 10.1-inch Galaxy TabPro.

At CES 2014 Samsung was telling Australian media that they were only going to launch one new model in Australia, now with their exit from the PC market the Company has moved to bolster their tablet range in an effort to convince consumers that their new tablets are good enough to replace a notebook.

In standard Wi-Fi only trim, the giant NotePro will sell in Australia for a recommended $1099; a 4G model will cost $1249. Both will ship to retailers this week, Samsung says.

The 10.1-inch TabPro with 16GB of memory and Wi-Fi connections will cost $599, while a 4G variant will go for $749. The Wi-Fi variant will be shipped to retailers this week; the 4G model should hit retail shelves from March 24, according to Samsung chief marketing officer Arno Lenior.

The arrival of the 12.2-in. NotePro sees Samsung stepping into a new professional arena, possibly challenging Microsoft’s massive Windows-powered Surface tablets.

Users can work across four windows. The LCD screen resolution is 2560 by 1600 and the device weighs 750g.
