EXCLUSIVE:HBO Tipped To Pull Content Plug On Quickflix Including Game Of Thrones

HBO is set to pull the content plug on Quickflix according to overseas sources, the move will see Game of Thrones disappear from the Quickflix portfolio.

The move which is set to be a blow to the Perth based content provider with HBO content making up to 30% of the Companies digital downloads. 

We have also been told by HBO insiders that Game of Thrones will not be available on the new Netflix service that will be launched early in 2015.

Recently Nine Entertainment became a major investor in the movie and TV streaming Company. 

HBO, the maker of Game of Thrones and True Detective, spent $10 million on its investment in Quickflix in 2012, soon after signing a licensing agreement with the streaming company.

Quickflix has struggled for a long time, It’s customer numbers fell during 2012 and 2013, but improved in the first three months of 2014 to almost 120,000 due primarily to the HBO content. 

Quickflix made a loss of $6.4 million in 2012-13, and a loss of $4.2 million in the first half of 2013-14.
