The new HTC Desire EYE dual front and back-facing 13 MP camera smartphone is launching in the Australian market this week as part of an exclusive partnership between HTC and JB Hi-Fi.The 5.2″ full-HD 1080p display Desire EYE is billed by HTC as “the ultimate imaging and ‘selfie'” smartphone, with the emphasis firmly on image quality and ease-of-use.
The Desire EYE’s main (f/2.0, 28 mm lens, wide angle) and front-facing (f/2.2, 22 mm lens, wide angle) cameras both feature BSI sensors, high-dynamic range (HDR) capability, 1080p full-HD video recording and dual LED flash.
Complementing the cameras is HTC’s EYE Experience software.
EYE Experience comes with functionality including face tracking, which is designed to keep the user framed at all times during video chats and conference calls.
Split Capture combines simultaneous photos and videos taken on the front and back cameras into one split-screen image or video, while Voice Selfie enables photos to be taken via a voice command.
Another feature, Crop-Me-In, crops the image or
video taken with the front-facing camera, positioning it within the
scene captured by the main camera.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 2.3 GHz quad-core processor, the Desire EYE features 4G connectivity, runs on Android with HTC Sense, and is decked out with HTC BoomSound front-facing stereo speakers and a dedicated amplifier.
“The HTC Desire EYE is waterproof, allowing users to capture and share their special summer moments in and out of water and in high quality,” commented Ben Hodgson, HTC Australia and New Zealand country manager.
“In addition, our new HTC EYE Experience adds a powerful suite of advanced photographic editing, content creation and sharing features to complement already impressive device specs.”
The Desire EYE will be available exclusively from JB Hi-Fi from November 20 carrying a price tag of $799 RRP.
