Hackers have released a new cache of files leaked from Sony Pictures Entertainment, It’s also been revealed that George Clooney is more than happy to take on Rupert Murdoch even if it comes to “lawsuits”.
Clooney’s next directorial effort will be Hack Attack, an adaptation of journalist Nick Davies’ book on the UK phone hacking scandal surrounding Rupert Murdoch’s News Of The World Scandal that has already seen former News Corporation staff jailed.
Clooney claims that he is really pumped up about the project. In an email from Clooney to Pascal and several other Sony execs, he compares the project to Citizen Kane.
“how much fun are we gonna have.the stakes are higher than citizen kane.if we tell the truth in a compelling way.Rupert won’t get time/warner.cnn won’t be fox..i’m so excited to do this film..and for those of you listening in.i’m the son of a news man.everything will be double sourced..So come on with your lawsuits.fuckers…,” the email read.
Over the weekend several more emails and private Sony correspondence was revealed byGuardians of Peace the group who is claiming responsibility for the attack in a posted email the hackers wrote that a “Christmas gift” would be arriving soon that will “put Sony Pictures into an even worse state that what they currently facing.
Countless Sony files, revealing everything from embarrassing email threads to salary details, have been released online following a Nov. 24 cyber-attack on the studio.
The newest batch of files includes a PowerPoint presentation given about Sony-backed video site Crackle.
The Daily Beast reports that Sony files released on Dec. 5 include emails from the studio’s execs about several film stars.
One leaked exchange reportedly involved Columbia Pictures co-president of production Michael de Luca telling Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal that Ryan Gosling has expressed interested in appearing in the Ghostbusters reboot, with Pascal then asking whether Gosling would have any interest in Sinister Six or the Steve Jobs biopic.
In another newly leaked email, Pascal refers to Leonardo DiCaprio’s decision to pull out of the Jobs film as “despicable.”
