LG is set to unveil its expanded line-up of 4K ultra-HD TVs at CES 2015 next week, including its ColorPrime series, utilising either Wide Colour LED or quantum dot technologies.LG states Wide Colour LED utilises different phosphor-based LEDs to “display greater colour depth and more lifelike images”, while quantum dot “offers high colour accuracy along with a 30 per cent increase in the colour gamut”.
LG’s 4K ultra-HD line-up feature 3840 x 2160 resolution with in-plane switching 4K panels, which LG states renders “colour vibrancy of images in near original quality”, doing so “while allowing for remarkably wide viewing angles”.
True Black Control local dimming technology is designed to refine the contrast and create darker, deeper blacks, while Natural Colour minimises colour reproduction errors and Contrast Optimiser maximises colour contrast and brightness.
LG’s partnership with Harman Kardon sees five of its models equipped with a “multi-channel ultra-surround system”.
“Deep, rich and powerful sound is guaranteed to further enhance the level of viewer immersion,” LG states.
“The thoughtfully designed forward-firing speakers are compact but effective. And new for 2015, the high-end UF9500 series features an integrated auditorium stand, designed to reflect and centralise sound for maximum performance.”
As previously announced, LG’s newest version of its smart TV platform, webOS 2.0, will also be on display, which LG states features reduced boot time of up to 60 per cent.
Other features of LG’s line-up include a 4K Upscaler algorithm for smooth rendering of SD, HD and full-HD content into “near ultra-HD quality images”, while a built-in 4K High Efficiency Video Codec decoder supports both 30p and 60p 4K content from external devices.
