Samsung has introduced its first curved-display monitor range into the Australian market, today announcing the availability of two 27″ and 34″ curved displays.Samsung states the monitors’ display curvature is designed to provide an “immersive experience” when compared to traditional flat-screen monitors, creating a “wide field of view and great sense of depth”.
“With an ultra-wide viewing angle of 178 degrees both horizontally and vertically, the curved monitors’ vertical alignment (VA) panels optimise the viewing experience from virtually any position and minimise picture distortion,” Samsung states.
The 34″ (LS34E790CNS) model features 3440 x 1440 resolution and has an ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio, with the 27″ (LS27D590CS) sporting 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 16:09 aspect ratio.
A game mode function, activated by a touch of a button, is designed to detect on-screen changes, correcting blurry images, enhancing colours and altering contrast, while both displays have built-in dual stereo speakers.
Picture-in-Picture 2.0 technology allows for multi-tasking, for instance allowing the user to watch a movie or video in one window while simultaneously working on a spreadsheet, maintaining the source’s original resolution up to HD.

Samsung Australia, stated of the new range.
The monitors sport a clean and minimalist design, with users able to adjust the screen angle using the tilt-screen function to minimise glare and reflection. The 34″ model is also height adjustable, with both monitors supporting 100 x 100 mm VESA-standard brackets for wall or table mounting.
Both monitors are now available for purchase at select retailers, with the 27″ carrying a price tag of $549 RRP, and the 34″ a price tag of $1,649 RRP.
