New Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Tipped For August Not September By Telstra Insiders

Telstra insiders have confirmed that they are currently in talks with Samsung re the release of a new Galaxy Note 5 as well as a new tablet range.

Insiders have told ChannelNews that Samsung could bring forward the launch to August as opposed to September.

Samsung has been widely expected to unveil the second-generation Samsung Galaxy Note 5 at the IFA 2015 this September, but recent reports had suggested that the premium phablet could arrive earlier in July in Europe and August in Australia in an effort to beat out Apple who are set to launch a new product in September.

However, the South Korean electronics giant had refuted rumours of a July launch of the Galaxy Note 5. A new report coming out of Taiwan now claims that the Galaxy Note 5 will indeed be launched earlier, but will be unveiled in August instead of July.

Earlier reports had claimed that Samsung was rushing to complete a prototype of the large screen Galaxy Note 5 by mid-June and had already provided the device’s final specifications to telecom companies to allow them to place pre-orders for the end of July. Samsung was reportedly hurrying the design process of the Galaxy Note 5 and was closer to starting mass production of the phablet.

The reports suggested that the Korean company was planning an earlier release of the premium phablet to gain a head start over Apple, which is expected to launch the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus in September.

According to the reports, Samsung intended to have a new premium model in the market ahead of Apple’s roll out of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus this spring to offer more competition to the larger iPhone 6 Plus. However, Samsung President Shin Jong-kyun had later rubbished reports of the Galaxy Note 5 arriving in July and denied that the company had sent prototypes to partners in order to prep them for an early release.
