Intel Launches Car Security Group

Intel has launched its Automotive Security Review Board of security experts said to be aimed at mitigating the risks associated with connected cars.

Researchers picked from the “top security industry talent” will perform security tests and audits intended to codify best practices and design recommendations for cyber security initiatives while “continuing to develop technological progression and innovation,” Intel said

The chipmaker added that the most exposed attack surfaces in connected cars are steering and braking, the remote key, airbags and even lighting systems. “We can, and must, raise the bar against cyber attacks in automobiles,” said Chris Young, Intel security GM.

“With the help of the ASRB, Intel can establish security best practices and encourage that cyber security is an essential ingredient in the design of every connected car.”
