Linksys is no slouch when it comes to routers. The company pioneered the genre in 1988 and since then has sold more than 100 million routers
A fact that shows Linksys is right on the
money with its latest EA8500 Max-Stream AC2600 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router.
Linksys’s detailed research shows the
average home is a constant hub of multiple devices competing for a fast,
reliable connection.
If you doubt this you need to latch on to
the brand’s research that shows 84 per cent of those surveyed were streaming
music, movies or TV programs, playing games or trawling through the Internet-at
the same time.
Two thirds also said they were using at
least five devices connected to the Internet and in use at the same time.
Problem is, more than half also said they
were constantly frustrated by buffering, interruptions and other connectivity
glitches.
Enter the svelte, Linksys EA8500, the
router built from the ground up to put a smile on the dial of multiple home
users who covet flawless Wi-Fi or simply want a lightening fast and easy route
to share data.
If you think of the Linksys MU-MIMO Wi-Fi
Network as akin to having access to many routers in the one package, you’ll
grasp why the EA8500 is so special. And so desirable for any family.
The EA8500 exploits beautifully, all the
benefits offered by the 802.11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO (Multi-User, Multiple Input,
Multiple Output) technology especially its ability to deliver, fast,
uninterrupted Wi-Fi connectivity to multiple devices simultaneously.
Which puts an end to squabbling since the
entire household can enjoy movie and music streaming, play video games, check
email, complete online banking, or head to EBay for a bargain-at the same time.
The EA8500 will deliver combined 2.53 Gbps
Wi-Fi speeds (up to 1733Mbps for 5 GHz and 800Mbps for 2.4GHZ). Processing is
done via a powerful 1.4GHz dual core CPU.
Setting up the $429.95 EA8500 is a doddle
thanks to the inclusion of Linksys’s smart Wi-Fi firmware, while four Gigabit
ports, USB 3.0 port and a combo USB 2.0/eSata port are handy inclusions.
