Apple To Bring Siri To Mac This Year?

Apple is planning to bring its Siri voice-activated digital assistant to Mac, 9to5Mac has reported.9to5Mac has reported that Apple currently plans to add Siri with the next major release of the Mac operating system, known as OS X 10.12.

The next Mac software update could start rolling out from around September.

The move would see Apple expand Siri across its product catalogue, with Siri currently available across devices such as the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch and Apple TV.

9to5Mac has reported sources as stating that Apple is nearly ready to launch the feature publicly, with Apple expected to introduce OS X 10.12 at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

Siri for Mac will be located in the Mac’s menu bar, with a Siri icon in the top right corner of the bar to activate the voice control feature, while, when a user clicks the Siri button, a dark, transparent interface will appear in the top right corner of the screen, featuring colourful sound waves to indicate speech input, 9to5Mac reports.

9to5Mac has reported that, according to sources, the interface design has not yet been finalised and may still change.

9to5Mac further reports that Siri will have its own pane in System Preferences, with users said to also have the option to choose a keyboard shortcut for activation, and able to enable Siri at the first start-up of the operating system, according to sources, while if the Mac is plugged into power, a “Hey Siri” command will be available similar to recent iPhone and iPad models.
