New HTC U Has Superior Specs Than LG G6 No Release Date Yet

HTC who last week released a snappy looking $199 Desire 650 smartphone is set to renter the top end mobile market with an all new HTC U top end smartphone.

The device will take on the new LG G6 and Samsung S8, ChannelNews understands that the top end device will be cheaper than both the G6 and S8.

Leaked Image from Evan Blass.

It was only a few weeks ago that HTC rolled out their new U Ultra and U Play smartphones.

Simply known as the HTC U the device will be have Gorilla Glass on both the front and back and by the look of a leaked image it will look remarkably like the new HTC U Ultra.

Unlike the LG G6 the new HTC U which is codenamed “Ocean ” will include the Snapdragon 835 and will feature a touch-sensitive frame.

The new Edge Sense technology allows “the user to control numerous, customizable actions with gestures such as squeezing or swiping along its left and right sides.” This is reportedly enabled via embedded sensors in the frame of the device.

The HTC U will also incorporate Sense 9 and Android 7.1 Nougat.

Camera wise, the new model will house a 12 MP IMX362 Sony sensor for the main camera and a 16 MP IMX351 on the front. Again, these are significantly larger sensors than can be found in the LG G6.

Another big improvement over the 32GB G6 is that the new HTC offering will come in 64 GB and 128 GB models with microSD expansion capability.

It will also apparently feature a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 QHD display.

Leaked images reveals what appears to be a significant bezel on the HTC phone, unlike recent flagship offerings from Samsung and LG.

It also looks like there’ll be a physical home button on the front of the device – so no rear fingerprint scanner as with the Galaxy S8.
