TCL Unveils C8L Mini LED TV Series with 6,000-Nit Brightness and AI Processing

TCL has revealed its 2026 premium TV lineup, led by the new C8L SQD-Mini LED series which is set to head to Australia as the company steps up its push in the high-end home entertainment market.

The C8L range, already rolling out in Europe and the US (as the QM8L), introduces TCL’s latest SQD-Mini LED technology, combining quantum dot colour with advanced Mini LED backlighting.

The flagship 98-inch and 85-inch models deliver up to 6,000 nits of peak brightness and feature as many as 4,032 local dimming zones, positioning the series among the brightest consumer TVs announced to date.

TCL is also pushing colour performance, claiming up to 100% BT.2020 colour gamut coverage, supported by its “Super QLED” and Ultra Color Filter technologies. The company says these enhancements improve colour accuracy and reduce issues such as blooming and colour shift.

The TVs are powered by TCL’s TSR AiPQ processor, which uses AI-driven algorithms to optimise contrast, clarity and motion in real time. The panels support a native 144Hz refresh rate, with variable refresh rate (VRR) scaling up to 288Hz, targeting gamers and sports viewers seeking smoother motion performance.

Design has also been a focus, with the C8L featuring an ultra-slim profile – down to around 5cm – and a near bezel-less “ZeroBorder” display aimed at maximising screen immersion.

On the audio front, TCL has partnered with Bang & Olufsen, integrating a tuned sound system with Hi-END speakers and Beosonic sound customisation.

The C8L sits below TCL’s flagship X11L series but above the more mainstream C7L models, forming part of a broader Mini LED push for 2026.

Australian availability and pricing have yet to be confirmed.
