AI-powered note-taking gadgets are rapidly becoming one of the fastest-growing categories in consumer technology, with companies experimenting with everything from rings to pins and clips. The latest entrant is SwitchBot, which has revealed its new AI MindClip at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
The MindClip is a small, wearable recording device designed to be clipped onto a shirt collar or lapel. At a glance, it closely resembles Anker’s Soundcore Work, and its core purpose is much the same: capturing spoken information without the need to pull out a phone or laptop.
According to SwitchBot, the AI MindClip is intended to act as a personal “second brain”. The built-in microphone allows users to record voice notes, conversations and meetings throughout the day, building an audio library that can later be searched and reviewed.
What sets the MindClip apart is its use of artificial intelligence to process those recordings. The device can automatically turn raw audio into written summaries, generate to-do lists and organise information into structured notes. Users can also ask questions about past recordings or retrieve reminders and learning materials using voice commands.
Many of these advanced features rely on SwitchBot’s cloud-based AI service, which will be offered via a subscription. While the company has confirmed that this service is required for transcription and smart retrieval tools, full details of what the subscription includes have not yet been disclosed.
In terms of hardware, the AI MindClip weighs 18 grams, making it lightweight enough for all-day wear. It also supports more than 100 languages, giving it an advantage over rivals such as Plaud’s NotePin, which currently supports 59 languages.
SwitchBot faces growing competition in this emerging space, particularly as interest in hands-free productivity tools continues to rise. However, the company has yet to announce pricing in AUD or confirm when the MindClip will be available to buy. A release date and final feature list are expected closer to its official launch, when it will become clearer how well it competes with other AI note-taking devices on the market.
