Free Music Site Fails To Deliver As Promised

The company which promised 30 million free songs would be downloadable to the public has suspiciously postponed the launch of its website, pending the finalisation of deals with its suppliers, including Warner Music.Though the website’s founder, a company called Qtrax, has not confirmed if the service is due for delivery in Australia, it has told US press that it cannot officially launch its website until it finalises music licensing deals.

The company however left this tidbit of information out of its official launch over the weekend which was “star studded”, according to a report from the Associated Press.

The website was a dream come true to music collectors, providing free music due to advertising deals which covered the company’s costs.

The news of the launch came unstuck however when the website was not up-and-running yesterday morning in the US, like promised.

In a statement to the Associated Press, Qtrax president and chief executive, Allan Klepfisz, said the launch of the service would be put off “for a short time.”

“We believe the exact nature of that support will be publicly clarified within a very short time,” he added.

News of the real launch date has not been disclosed.
