The new phones, ChCha and Salsa, launched at World Mobile Congress at Barcelona yesterday, both have a button dedicated to Facebook functions, which pulsates with light whenever updates come through on the social network.

“With more than 500 million active users worldwide, Facebook has become synonymous with the social web and we wanted to create the ultimate socially connected phones with mass market appeal,” HTC said.

The phone and social network are also integrated allowing phone contacts to help connect with them as Facebook friends or personalize handset further with widgets.

This latest moves towards Gen-Y ers comes as Blackberry makers RIM have also said they will target the segment of the market with a range of teen-tastic devices to appeal to their love of instant messaging and social browsing.

Both of these devices, which borrow their names from Spanish dance moves run on Android Gingerbread 2.3.3, and the ChaCha is the more eye catching of the two with its light colours and funky design.

Is also comes with a QWERTY keyboard, dual cameras allowing video chat on its a 5-megapixel colour camera with auto focus, LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera.

The ChaCha also has a 2.6-inch, 480 x 320 landscape touch screen.

The Salsa option looks very like the Taiwanese makers  Desire phone although with a lighter blue colour and has a slightly bigger 3.4-inch, 480 x 320 resolution touch display than ChaCha.

It also comes with the same 5-megapixel camera with VGA forward-facing functionality allows video conversation on the go, says HTC.
