Lenovo Looking To Sell Google Android Phones In OZ

Lenovo is looking to sell Google Android based Smartphones via retailers in Australia according to sources.The Chinese Company who already has established relationships with the retail channel believes that between10% to 20% of its revenue will come from mobile Internet services within five years.

Yesterday the Company launched the “LePhone” handset in Asia based on Google’s Android operating system. Executives claim that the device will be launched in Australia this yeqar along with other foreign markets.

Lenovo aims to sell “millions” of the phones over the next five years, and “tens of millions” after that, Chief Operating Officer Rory Read told the Wall Street Journal at the event.

Mr. Read said the company believes its phones will have a better brand position than Research In Motion Ltd.’s BlackBerry handset, which is iconic among businesspeople around the world but doesn’t yet have a strong position in the China market.

Lenovo’s phones will be targeted at both the enterprise and consumer markets, he added.
