Avi Orski of Maroubra, NSW said he had been looking to buy a new television and was excited to see that he could purchase a new 3D TV for not much more than he was expecting to spend on a new 2D LED.

“We had been planning on buying a new television for the family for some time and had seen the excitement around 3D. We were surprised to see the units are actually not that much more than standard flat-screen televisions, representing great value for such a ground-breaking technology,” said Mr Orski.

Samsung said that in order to demonstrate the affordability and reason why consumers should purchase new 3D technology now is best shown by comparing new technology a year ago versus today.

“A year ago a Samsung LED Series 7 in 40-inch without the 3D feature was launched with a RRP of approx $3299 whilst today the new Samsung LED 3D Series 7 in 40-inch has a RRP of $2899,” said the company.

Samsung’s Head of Marketing for Consumer Electronics, Mark Leathan said, “We always knew that 3D was going to capture the attention of the Australian public but we knew that in order for it to be truly successful we needed to launch it at a price point that the ordinary family could afford. We’ve had an overwhelming response following the first days of product in store suggesting we got that price point right.”

Available in store now is the LED 3D Series 7, with a RRP of $2899 for 40″; RRP of $3699 for 46″ has and RRP of $4799 for 55″. The Samsung Blu-ray player retailing at $599 RRP.
