Hisense Gets Naming Rights To Melbournes Heart

Hisense Australia has scored a six-year naming rights deal of to the former Vodafone Arena in the heart of Melbourne’s major sporting precinct, which the company says now “heralds an exciting new commitment in the sponsorship of Australian sports and entertainment”.

Launching the sponsorship, Hisense Australia’s General Manager Tania Garonzi, said the company was pleased its sponsorship would ensure the Arena continues to be the number one indoor sports arena in Victoria.

“In committing to a six year sponsorship agreement, Melbourne Olympic Parks Trust can reinvest in the Arena to ensure it attracts international events to Melbourne.  The investment will also ensure basketball, netball, dance sport and cycling retain access to world class facilities,” Garonzi said.

Hisense Australia manufactures and distributes a range of consumer electronics and household appliances through major national retailers.

The sponsorship of Hisense Arena underpins the company’s long-term commitment to Australia.  Since 2006, the company has invested millions of dollars into establishing Australian headquarters in Melbourne, including a research and development facility in Port Melbourne.

New signage is being installed and a public awareness campaign has commenced to educate Melburnians and visitors to the precinct of the Arena’s new name.

Each of the four Hisense Arena signs are 2.2 metres tall by 12.5 metres long and weigh 30 kilograms.  In total, 18 workmen have taken 800 hours to craft and install the signs, which use 600 metres of neon lighting to illuminate.

Hisense LCD screens have also been installed throughout the Arena as part of the new sponsorship.
Already the home of the South Dragons and Melbourne Vixens, Hisense Arena will continue to showcase the best in Australian and international sports and entertainment.

The first official event at Hisense Arena was the Prime Minister’s 7th Annual Olympic Dinner last Saturday and in the next six months the Arena will host more than 50 major events and some 250,000 patrons.
